Base yourself at Lindores and dive into a five-day itinerary filled with fun for adults, kids, and even the dog!
Day 1: Arrival at Lindores – Settle In & Unwind
Afternoon
Arrive at Lindores, our luxury rural retreat surrounded by rolling hills and big skies. We have four holiday houses, three of which are dog friendly with secure gardens. Unpack, pour a drink, and relax.
Evening
Fire up the BBQ or order a local takeaway and enjoy your first night under the stars in your private hot tub.

Day 2: Surf’s Up at Lost Shore Surf Resort
Morning
Head to Lost Shore Surf Resort, just under an hour’s drive from Lindores. It’s Europe’s largest inland surfing lagoon—ideal for every level. Book a surf lesson for the kids, or paddle out yourself and ride the waves.
Afternoon
Grab lunch at one of the resort’s laid-back eateries. Try the loaded tacos or fresh salads, then chill in a hammock or on a lounger at the lagoon’s edge. Non-surfers can still enjoy the beach-style atmosphere and water-based fun.
Evening
On the way back to Lindores, stop by The Bridge Inn. This gastro pub offers a charming atmosphere, a roaring fire (in cooler weather) and dog bowl – alongside good beer and pub food. Ideal for a laid-back evening after surfing.

Day 3: Coastal Charm & Culture in St Andrews
Morning
Drive 25 minutes east to St Andrews, the picturesque coastal town known for its university, golf history, and charming cobbled streets. Visit the castle ruins and cathedral, or stroll along West Sands Beach (perfect for dogs!).
Afternoon
Lunch at Balgove Larder Farm Shop & Steak Barn, then treat yourself to artisan ice cream from Luvians – a local, family owned business (you can also pick up delicious wine & whisky from their bottle shop)
Evening
Return to Lindores and watch the sunset from your garden. Let the kids play on the lawn while the adults sip locally distilled Aqua Vitae from Lindores Abbey Distillery, made just minutes away with barley grown on our farm.

Day 4: Outdoor Adventure & Local Flavours
Morning
Stay local and begin your day at the Pillars of Hercules car park, then follow the clearly marked path into Maspie Den, part of Falkland Estate. It’s a round-trip that takes roughly 2 hours for a 4 km loop, including a short ascent to East Lomond summit with panoramic views of Fife’s amazing countryside. Dogs are welcome on the trail.
Afternoon
Visit Falkland Palace & Gardens, a fairytale 16th-century palace with gorgeous grounds—great for kids and adults alike. It’s also a filming location for the hugely popular TV series, Outlander.
Evening
Dine at The Boar’s Head, a welcoming country pub just a few miles from Lindores. With a menu full of hearty Scottish classics—think locally sourced steaks, pies and seasonal dishes. It’s perfect for a satisfying evening meal. They also offer a well-curated drinks list, with local ales and whiskies and are known for being dog-friendly.

Day 5: Slow Down & Soak It All In
Morning
Take a final wander around Lindores before packing away your belongings and waving goodbye. Before leaving Fife, head to Wild Scottish Sauna at their Eden Springs site (just 7 minutes from Lindores) and enjoy a private or shared sauna session that will leave you feeling rejuvenated and reenergised. Eden Springs has a wonderful wild swimming loch the sauna is directly situated at with a ladder and platform for ease of access.
